Birmingham, AL – Altec, which manufactures aerial lifts, digger derricks, truck-mounted cranes and other specialty equipment, will be unveiling its new 23 ton AC23-95 B crane at ICUEE.
The new crane will have a 23.5 USt maximum capacity, 95ft boom and an optional 44ft two piece jib. The maximum working radius is 90ft. The maximum tip height is 148ft when equipped with the optional two piece jib (26ft when retracted). The maximum tip height is 105ft without the optional jib.
Optional features include recessed load block and ball storage, standard options of walk through control consoles and three position out-and-down outriggers. An 800lbs capacity, 36inx72in personnel platform, a platform test lift package and radio remote controls are all available.
The AC23-95 B has a gross vehicle weight rating of 50,000lbs, with a gross axle weight rating for the front of 16,000lbs and 34,000lbs in the rear.
Altec will also show new product features available on the AC38, such as the 15,000 lb capacity auxiliary winch and the 15,000 lb grooved drum primary winch with tensioner and third wrap indicator. Riding seat models are now available on track carriers and a 55', two piece jib is now available on the AC38-127S, which allows a maximum working height of 192'.
In addition to unveiling the AC23-95B and new crane features, Altec will also be promoting safer and smarter work practices by highlighting specific integral safety features on all cranes, such as the Load Moment and Area Protection (LMAP), which displays boom length, boom angle, load on hook and percent of rated capacity. Altec’s Outrigger Boom Interlock Systems helps prevent any crane operation before the outriggers are deployed and a front entrance enclosed cab allows for convenient cab access and egress from the deck of the truck. Altec’s lower winch control also helps reduce the likelihood of operator injury while mounting and dismounting the crane, which is the leading crane operator related injury in the industry. Altec also offers an IJ22 insulated jib for live line bare hand work from the personnel platform, a non-rated composite jib package for use with a personnel platform and a platform test lift package.
For Altec, safety is paramount, but designing and improving features for operator productivity remains a central focus. Altec Opti-View® riding seat control stations are standard on all riding seat models, providing a full view of the work area and the pilot-operated controls allow for precise ramping and metering of hydraulic functions. Also, engineering the winch control at the load hook stow point improves set up and tear down efficiency.
