Altec Recognized for Commitment to Sustainability
June 30, 2009

Birmingham, AL – Altec, Inc., a Birmingham, Ala., based manufacturer of equipment for the electric utility and contractor markets, announced today its inclusion in Business Roundtable’s 2009 S.E.E. Change Progress Report: “Enhancing Our Commitment to a Sustainable Future.” Along with over 70 other corporations, Altec is being recognized for its commitment to business strategies that improve the society, environment and economy.

S.E.E. Change (Society, Environment, Economy) invites member companies to address high-priority environmental and social challenges, such as enhancing water conservation and quality, using energy more efficiently, improving raw material yield, increasing more efficient use of natural resources, and helping to eradicate disease and poverty.

Altec promotes these same principles by investing in sustainability projects such as development of hybrid utility vehicles, recycling plans for all steel, copper and machine tools used during manufacturing, and maintaining and strengthening its alliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to develop work-safety programs.

“By creating products and initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emission, developing alternative energy products, and increasing fuel and operating efficiencies, Altec is establishing a sound environmental protection approach,” stated Altec Chairman and CEO, Lee Styslinger III.
