Birmingham, AL – Altec, Inc will help develop and build a fully integrated production plug-in system for utility vehicles. Altec will participate in the stimulus grant provided by the Obama Administration in conjunction with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. President Obama announced the grant awards last week with the intent of accelerating the “manufacturing and deployment of next generation U.S. Batteries and Electric Vehicles”.

As part of the Department of Energy’s Advanced Vehicle Electrification funding program, Altec will assist with the assembly of the hybrid units for the electric utility industry. All of the units will be built at Altec facilities.

“Over the years, Altec has been an industry leader in the integration of hybrid and electric technology for the utility industry,” said Altec’s President and CEO Lee Styslinger, III. “Our participation is an important step in enhancing our ability to create green fleet solutions for our customers. By creating products and initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, along with the development of alternative energy products, Altec is committed to implementing a sound sustainability approach in every aspect of our business”.
